Covid-19 Virus Update

Dear Spirals Family:

UCSB has just informed us that in addition to transitioning to virtual instruction, they are cancelling all youth related programs on campus beginning tomorrow, March 13, 2020.

Spirals was already in discussions to furlough its Recreational Programs through the end of March and we fully support the decision by UCSB to cancel youth programs. Currently the closure is through April 6, 2020.  UCSB will re-evaluate on going closures on April 1, 2020.  Spirals will keep you informed of any updates.

For our RECREATIONAL families

For classes in April, Spirals will resume instruction as soon as practical after UCSB re-opens its facilities to youth groups.

Currently, we are hopeful that the Covid-19 community impact will be minimal and Spirals will be resuming Recreational classes in mid-April.

For our TEAM families

Due to uncertainty regarding COVID – 19, SoCal gymnastics has cancelled the Level 6-10 Optional State meet.  As it stands now,  every athlete who qualified for SoCal State will qualify for the Regional Meet, if held.  Regarding ongoing Team training:

The Spirals staff is currently looking into potential alternative training sites/options.  Also, to keep our gymnasts in the best shape, our coaches are also actively working on individualized land based workouts for the team athletes, possibly through Titan.

Going forward, there remains a great deal of uncertainty regarding COVID-19 and it’s impact on our community.  Spirals will continue monitor the situation and we are committed to keeping our Recreational and Team families informed on a regular basis.

Should you have any questions, please reach out to any our Coaches and/or Board members.   We will do our best to answer your questions.

Sincerely Yours,

Spirals
