What to do in Santa Barbara/Goleta:
For the times away from the meet, here are some local suggestions for the entire family.
Coronado Butterfly Preserve (Goleta): Easy hike to the Eucalyptus Grove where thousands of Monarchs come for the winter. After viewing, continue on for a spectacular view of the Pacific from the bluffs.
Whale Watching (Santa Barbara Harbor): January is Gray Whale season. There are several options of excursions to take you out to see these wonderful animals.
The Moxi Museum (Santa Barbara): Let your inner science geek run wild in this awesome hands-on interactive science center. Even my teenager agreed it "was pretty cool".
Ice in Paradise (Goleta): Open skate times daily! Visit website for times.
Santa Barbara Wharf: Restaurants, shopping, wine tasting, you name it, it's there.
Santa Barbara down town area: Many wonderful places to eat, shop and sight see.
Isla Vista (IV): Loads of great food! Easy walking from the competition location.
